There are an infinite number of little crumbs of hope left by every person you meet.
Clinging to definitions takes away from the magic. From the indescribable reality that makes us human.
A butterfly may be just an insect. But it is also a reflection of the natural order that shaped something so delicate in a world that often feels merciless.
This planet holds so much diversity and room. To call it chaos is fair. But the idea of order within that chaos is comforting only to those who build their identity on fear.
Language is incredible. But it is also a weapon. People use it to minimize the awe we could feel if only we stopped scrambling to define everything we see.
You are here because there is room for you. Don’t waste time questioning that. Instead, question what motivates you. And how that motivation fits into the reality that everyone else, who is also at the mercy of meaning, is trying to navigate. You can empower and strengthen others in ways that help them reach their own purpose. Which only they can define.
You will never be safe. Because we need each other. And we fear one another. That is the paradox of our existence. And for those who seek order, once they have it, what then. Every effort has a cost. No idea is bulletproof.
You are capable of anything. From the worst violence to the greatest love. At any and all times. Remember that your experiences are not the definition of the human experience. Make room for others. Because the wonder and awe of life’s gamble is what makes it all so overwhelmingly terrifying and magical at once. Even the most ruthless individualist cannot deny that the best experiences are the ones we share.
Constant forgiveness of yourself and of others is the mandate of change. And change is the only way we can move toward what we seek. But it can only ever be sought for ourselves. Never on behalf of others.
Of course one must hold oneself accountable. But more importantly, we must hold the powerful accountable. So long as the powerful are allowed to build systemic distance from responsibility, the world will deteriorate into one where the only things that change are our whims and fancies. Handed back to us after we are told we cannot have what our hearts truly need.
We owe each other everything. Apathy is a power we should reject. Because it crushes our souls into something shaped by the systems our leaders prefer. And they are never the good guys. It is a service to oneself to always oppose power. That alone ensures you are never seeking to dominate your fellow earthling.
And finally, don’t take any of my advice. Because I am me. And not you.
