The greatest trick power has ever accomplished is convincing good people that they can wield it responsibly.
In America, i see peoples faith in our power structures.
The struggle is always between neutering the powerful and the powerful lying to us justifying their existence.
We dont even feign surprise anymore as they kill, rape, assault, dehumanize. But somehow we think the ring of power will answer to us. We assign progress to the power achieved by violent actions rather than communal agreement.
We assign order to the chaos, and simply wait hoping that power doesnt target us if we remain quiet enough.
Order is what the fearful clamor for, and demagogues are more than willing to stand up and offer it.
Do we want order? Or do we want to be allowed to not contemplate worries? We want to put that pressure on other people, and we feel content when violence is wielded against those who we feel are breaking some sort of rule.
Such as existing, living across a border that we define as less human, and therefore less deserving of what we ourselves struggle for.
We've become a population struggling to freely designate our moral judgement to others. So we can focus on more pleasant things.
We rely on each other and we fear each other. A paradox. We reward each other for similar behavior and punish each other for the unfamiliar. We imagine up reasons for others to suffer and justify why we shouldn't involve ourselves.
Its all chaos and even the worst crimes humanity is capable of are permissible when done in behalf of the powerful.
So the answer is to always oppose the powerful, to hold them in contempt and to never trust them. Because they didnt earn it, ever, they were assigned it by actions of others and luck.
If they can prove they deserve power, lighten off, but do not give them any benefit of the doubt. Force them to engage us.
You either choose power or privacy, that is what we should force moving forward. They are hidden and we shouldn't make room for them to hide.
They dont want to win entirely, the powerful need each other and they need to market each other as different flavors to ensure they will always be held above us. All they want is to feel superior, and any threat to that is grounds for extermination.
We owe power no loyalty, either it drags itself into the light or we crush it in the shadows.
